Prevention and Response to Gender Based Violence

Our organization is committed to addressing Gender Based Violence (GBV) including; domestic violence, intimate partner violence, female genital mutilation, commercial sexual exploitation of children, online/digital violence, and sexual harassment in the world of work and at education institutions through a comprehensive program focused on prevention and response using scientific and non-scientific methodologies. Prevention strategies include community mobilization, outreach and accountability safety forums aimed at challenging harmful gender social norms, promoting gender equity, gender equality, and fostering respectful relationships.

In terms of response, CERU support establishment of formal and informal Referral Networks that prioritize provision of survivor centered/led services. Our program ensures survivors have access to confidential support services, including counseling, legal aid, and medical assistance. We collaborate with local authorities and organizations to establish safe spaces and helplines for reporting incidents of GBV. We advocate for policy changes to strengthen legal frameworks and enhance protection for survivors.

Moreover, our program emphasizes the importance of engaging men and boys as allies to end GBV, promoting healthy masculinity and encouraging bystander intervention. Through partnerships with stakeholders and continuous monitoring and evaluation, we strive to improve the effectiveness and impact of our interventions. Together, we can create communities free from GBV, where everyone can live with dignity and respect
